KERALA Tourism has tied up with Mahindra Holidays and Resorts to market and promote homestays in the state globally.

Kerala homestays would be marketed, rated and branded overseas as an experiential holiday product that offers an authentic taste of traditional hospitality through the portal www.mahindrahomestays.com.

The initiative will bring more than 350 classified but scattered homestays in Kerala under a single platform.

The immediate focus would be on the United Kingdom, which has proven to be a key-market for Kerala.

Kerala Tourism minister, Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishna, had said recently that the state would look at promoting to new and emerging markets to cushion any effect that may arise out of the economic recession in the West.

A 30-member delegation of Kerala Tourism will be in Singapore from October 22 to 24 for ITB Asia where it will address the press. The delegation will proceed to Australia to update the trade on its products - October 28 in Sydney and October 29 in Melbourne.
