Frasers launches road-warrior' brand

SINGAPORE-based Frasers Hospitality has established a boutique brand of extended-stay accommodation named Modena, aimed at an emerging breed of business travellers on the go.
 
Frasers Hospitality CEO Choe Peng Sum said: "Modena is a serviced residence aimed at the road warrior' who wants convenience at their fingertips to complement a hectic work/play lifestyle that probably crosses several time zones."

He pointed out that although Modena residences were not as large as those of the Frasers brand, it is not a no-frills chain.

"On the contrary, there will be a 24-hour gym, deli, concierge, daily housekeeping, and all rooms come with flat-screen TVs and a kitchenette. Leading-edge connectivity will be available throughout the property," Choe said.

Choe said properties will have to be well connected in terms of public transport to let guests move around easily and quickly.

Modena will open its first property, a 104-key residence, in downtown Tianjin, China by January 2010. Rates are expected to be about 20 per cent less than those of Frasers properties.

Future openings include one in Shanghai and two in Suzhou within the next two years, and one in Singapore by early 2012.

There are also plans to establish the Modena brand throughout Asia in cities such as Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai, as well as in the Middle East.
