SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) is planning to bring 70 travel agents to India, tying in with its recently launched flights to Amritsar and Ahmedabad. About 30 agents from Asia-Pacific will arrive in Ahmedabad on October 13, while 40 agents worldwide are being targeted for Amritsar by the end of this month.

SIA West Asia and Africa senior vice-president, Mr Tan Chik Quee, said: “India is important to us. We hope to grow and develop the market. The airline is very optimistic about India and its economy. When the airline promotes a destination, we leverage our global coverage to ensure that more tourists find it easier to reach the destination, which is being promoted.”

He added SIA was working closely with tour operators in the US, Canada and the UK to promote the new Amritsar-Singapore flight as there was a huge population of Sikhs in these countries.
