GARUDA Indonesia has started a codeshare flight with Gulf Air, as part of both airlines' agreement to develop traffic between Indonesia and the Middle East.

In a press statement released yesterday, Garuda president, Mr Indra Setiawan, said: “This is part of Garuda's plan to develop our network in the Middle East, Asia, Australia, Japan, China and Europe, be it via Garuda's own resources or by co-operation with other airlines.”

The codeshare is on flights between Abu Dhabi and Jakarta, Jakarta-Surabaya and Jakarta-Denpasar. Gulf Air is the operating airline for the Abu Dhabi-Jakarta route, seven days a week, using a B767 airline and Garuda gets a 40-seat allotment per flight on the GF-488/GA-9993 flight and the returning GF-487/GA-9992.

Meanwhile, Garuda operates the Jakarta-Surabaya and Jakarta-Denpasar flights seven days a week using Boeing 737-400. Gulf Air receives an allotment of 20 seats per flight.
