INDIAN Airlines (IA) has announced the launch of its Bumper Super Saver scheme offering 16 coupons for flights to 16 destinations within the country at US$1,477.

Launched today, the tickets would be valid for one year from the date of issue. The coupons, printed in limited numbers, would be sold from IA offices all over the country.

The offer is valid in economy class only. “A passenger can take these coupons and go straight to the airport and board a flight, provided seats are available,” the airlines spokesman, Ms Manjira Khurana, said. The coupons are valid on all the airline's domestic sectors except for those from New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram /Coimbatore/Kochi/Kozhikode.

The new initiative follows the recent survey conducted by the Indian Market Research Bureau, which showed the airline's image had improved considerably among corporate travellers and frequent fliers. It also follows low-cost, Bangalore-based airline Air Deccan's recently launched schemes, offering 30 tickets (for US$1,137) and 36 tickets (for US$2,272) at reduced rates to passengers for its trunk and regional operations.
