ACCOR has secured another management agreement for a Novotel in Tarakan, southeast Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The 175-room Novotel Tarakan is located in the main business district, surrounded by major office developments, government buildings and commercial banks. It will include facilities such as a coffee shop, swimming pool, fun pub, ballroom and entertainment centre.

The hotel will cater to the many foreign and joint venture companies working in the timber, oil and natural gas industries in Kalimantan. The area is also famous for its historic World War II battlefields that were sites of intense fighting between Japanese and Australia forces.

Accor director of operations Indonesia, Mr Gerard Guillouet, said: “The shortage of internationally managed hotels in the area will attract a strong corporate and leisure clientele."

Novotel Tarakan is scheduled to open in 2006, joining a network of Accor's 31 hotels and serviced apartments in key resort and business destinations around Indonesia.
