MYANMAR'S newest domestic airline, Air Bagan, is expecting to take delivery of its fourth aircraft, a Fokker 100, at the end of June, and will use it to increase frequencies to key destinations in the upcoming high season.

The carrier started operations in November 2004 with scheduled services from Yangon to Mandalay, Heho, Nyaung U and Tachileik, using an ATR 72 and two ATR 42s. Since then it has added services to Bagan, Dawei, Kyaing Tong, Myitkyina, Myeik, Pathein, Sittwe and Thandwe.

Managing director, Mr Soe Win, told TTG Daily News load factors had been quite good so far. “We now have a total of 11 destinations and, despite limited promotional activity, we have been able to compete fairly successfully with established operators,” he added.

Air Bagan distributes through appointed passenger sales agents including Columbus Travels & Tours, Sun Far Travels & Tours, Than Than Travels & Tours, and Treasure Travels & Tours.
