Hong Kong, Japan loosen air restrictions

Hong Kong ((2008-02-01)

HONG KONG and Japan have struck a deal to eliminate capacity restrictions over air services between Hong Kong and most Japanese cities. The agreement covers air services between Hong Kong and all Japanese cities except Tokyo.

Hong Kong already has liberal air services arrangements with China and India.

Airlines based in Hong Kong will be able to increase services to Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Sendai and Okinawa, and launch new services to Kagoshima, Okayama and other destinations.

Hong Kong-based airlines provide 42 weekly passenger services to Tokyo and 61 weekly passenger services to six other Japanese cities. Japan-based airlines provide 28 weekly passenger services to Tokyo and 14 weekly passenger services to Osaka.
