Indonesia AirAsia boosts Malaysia flights

Jakarta (2008-04-04)

INDONESIA AirAsia has added services to four Malaysian destinations as of April 1 as part of its new policy to concentrate on regional services and reduce domestic routes.

The new services are Jakarta-Kinabalu, Jakarta-Kuching, Medan-Penang and Medan-Kuala Lumpur. All are using Boeing 737-300 aircraft.

Indonesia AirAsia president director, Mr Dharmadi, was quoted by local media as saying: "Regional services give better yields than domestic routes. Therefore, we are gradually reducing the domestic services and focusing on the regional flights."

The airline has terminated its Jakarta-Palembang services but is keeping its Palembang-Johor Bahru flights.
