Abacus launches auto-refund tool

ABACUS International says it is the first GDS to implement automated refunds with BSP Singapore as part of IATA's efforts to streamline operations for travel agencies.

Abacus head of agency marketing, Mr Brett Henry, said the automated refund feature would simplify the business workflow of Abacus-connected travel agencies and free up time to focus more on fulfilling customers' needs and enhancing customer service.

The feature would also allow agencies to reconcile with BSP accounting easily as the agents will submit their refunds directly to the airlines for billings while on the Abacus system.

Hard copy submissions of refunds would no longer be necessary as the refund information is updated on the Airline Ticket System.

Mr Henry added: "The auto-refund process will be combined onto one platform, the GDS. Travel agents will be able to file for refunds on the Abacus GDS screen without having to click onto a separate BSPLINK screen."
