Major Japanese agencies to visit South Korea

Seoul (2009-02-12)

AMID a steady surge of Japanese inbound tourists due to the strong yen, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will be inviting a group of seven major Japanese travel agencies to South Korea from February 14 to 16.

The agencies, including Japan's major agency JTB, are said to be responsible for 50 per cent of the Japanese market. They will visit South Korea and over the course of three days take part in travel product planning and development activity.

Due to the weak won and strong yen at the moment, the Japanese inbound market is expected to pick up pace again.

KTO Japan Team's Mr Byoung-jeon Kwon, said: "We are aiming for 2.55 million Japanese inbound visitors this year, and plan to achieve this figure through the development of high-end sightseeing products as well as destination campaigns in other regions."
