BINTAN Resorts has announced it saw a significant increase in visitor arrivals for 2008, with 397,833 arrivals representing 19.2 per cent growth from 333,771 in 2007.

About one-third of total arrivals were 111,985 Singaporean visitors, a growth of 5.4 per cent over 2007. Visitors from the rest of Asia accounted for 522 per cent.

Japan and South Korea remained the largest markets after Singapore and Indonesia, jointly contributing 14.4 per cent of total arrivals.

Arrivals from Germany, Australia and the UK increased 21.4 per cent, 11.1 per cent and 7.6 per cent respectively.

Although bucking the performance trend amid the downturn, Bintan Resorts is continuing its efforts in product renewal to fare even better when the good financial times return.
