INBOUND operators said Indonesia should intensify marketing efforts in Europe but differed on the strategy to maximise additional seat capacity.

From December 6, KLM will relaunch Amsterdam-Bali flights while Garuda Indonesia, from June 2010, will resume its Amsterdam-Jakarta service, which was discontinued in 2004.

Marintur Indonesia executive director Ismail Ali has already been getting enquiries from the Netherlands, including one for 15 passengers a week, and wants the government to focus marketing efforts on the Netherlands and surrounding countries such as Belgium, Germany and France.

Panorama Destination however wants the country's limited marketing dollars to be spent developing new European markets instead of established strongholds such as the Netherlands.
