DELAYS in the opening of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore next year have forced the inaugural Eco World exhibition and conference to pick Suntec Singapore instead.

Scheduled for April 8 to 10, 2010, Eco World will comprise an exhibition, a conference and the first-ever Outstanding Sustainability Awards ceremony, held in collaboration with the Singapore Business Federation.

Eco World project director - sales and marketing Henri Tan said his team initially approached Marina Bay Sands earlier in the year. However, the integrated resort was unable to guarantee that the venue would be ready in time, forcing Eco World to confirm the event at Suntec Singapore in August this year.

"We had to give relatively short notice for the event, but Suntec helped to arrange enough space for us," Tan said.

Occupying one hall on Suntec's Level Four and two ballrooms, Eco World expects more than 150 regional exhibitors to participate and up to 500 delegates to arrive from around the world.

Marina Bay Sands stated in July its intention to open 1,000 hotel rooms, the casino and the bulk of its MICE facilities by February 15 next year.
