Asia Cruise Services Network alliance moves forward

Sirima Eamtako, Bangkok (2010-06-02)

THE ASIA Cruise Services Network (ACSN) alliance inked an MOU yesterday, nearly six months since the initiative was first announced.

ACSN chairman and SEA Tours director and inbound manager Krai Panyarachun said the agreement marked the completion of all "nuts and bolts" required to move the grouping forward.

The alliance, which held its first meeting last December, comprises 16 regional tour operators and cruise groundhandlers from 20 countries in Asia, down from the original 17.

Pakistan's Travel Walji's withdrew from the grouping, citing the political situation in its home base. Further, Pacific Arena Singapore has replaced Anglo-French as the representative in the city-state.

Regional meetings will be held twice year, rotating to different member countries. Krai said the alliance's website - www.asiacruiseservices.com - would be ready within two weeks, in time for ACSN's debut at Seatrade All Asia Cruise Convention in Suzhou, China from June 24 to 25.
