Karen Yue, Singapore, TTGmice (2010-06-04)

COSTA Cruises is working to grow MICE bookings out of India, a business segment it said had grown significantly since the introduction of Asian routings in 2006.

Its Costa Classica ship, was fully chartered by India's Shree Giriraj Seva Trust for an eight-night sailing out of Hong Kong that ends today.

Costa Cruises sales and marketing director, Pacific Asia operations, Dario Rustico said the full charter of such size more than 1,300 passengers - by the Indian group is “the first ever in Asia-Pacific and the history of Indian tourism”.

He said the Indian market holds great potential for growth for the company's Asian sailings and expects “this to be the first of many important big movements of Indian passengers towards our Costa ships around the world”.

Apart from establishing close contacts with travel agents and corporate groups in India  and holding regular product seminars, Costa Cruises also launched an online training programme last year to provide a series of interactive training modules.
