Air Arabia to serve Kuala Lumpur

Sim Kok Chwee, Singapore (2010-11-18)

SHARJAH-based low cost carrier (LCC) Air Arabia will operate daily flights to Kuala Lumpur via Kathmandu starting December 16, its first foray into South-east Asia.

Granted full fifth-freedom rights between Kathmandu and Kuala Lumpur, Air Arabia will operate an Airbus A320 on the route. The LCC cannot follow the usual point-to-point model due to the distance between Sharjah and Kuala Lumpur.

Air Arabia, the first and largest LCC in the Middle East and North Africa, will take delivery of 44 A320s between 2010 and 2016.
