Garuda launches Shanghai
TTG Asia, Jakarta

TTG Asia, Jakarta
(8th Jul 2002)

Garuda Indonesia will start services between Jakarta and Shanghai in October.

The twice-weekly flight will use a Boeing 737 or an Airbus aircraft, Garuda vice president market development, Mr Marco Umbas, said in an Antara news agency report.

Mr Umbas said the decision was made following the 80 per cent average load factor on the Jakarta-Guangzhou flight, which the airline had just increased from twice to three times a week.

Garuda is also planning to reposition its European service by upgrading the aircraft from an A330 to A340, and changing the classes from First, Premium and Economy class to First, Business and Economy.
