AS part of its postSARS recovery programme, the Taiwan Visitors Association (TVA) is spending NT$35 million (US$102,857) on a roadshow to Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

This is the first time the TVA has organised a consumer roadshow. The objective is to create more awareness among travellers and push for more traffic, which had drop to an all-time low during SARS. In previous years the association used to have an annual roadshow for the trade in the third quarter.

The roadshow, which has more than 50 participating Taiwanese companies, was in Penang and Kuala Lumpur last week, it will be at the Marina Square Shopping Mall in Singapore tomorrow and in Hong Kong on Sunday. Some 20,000 people are expected at the show in Singapore.

A spokesman for the TVA said that if successful, the TVA intends to make the show an annual event.
