Victoria Cruises enhances Yangtze experience

NEW York-based Victoria Cruises has introduced a new generation of ships to cruise on the Yangtze River following the completion of the second stage of the Three Gorges Dam project.

Victoria Star, which can accommodate 204 passengers, represents the company's new generation of larger, upgraded vessels. Standard cabins are larger and all 102 of them feature balconies. Other new features include Internet access in the library, satellite TV, a better-equipped gym, enhanced massage and salon services and a special glass-enclosed wall in the Dynasty Dining Hall to showcase the scenic view.

The cruise programme has also been enhanced and Victoria Cruises can now operate 130-passenger air-conditioned, glass-enclosed boats on the tributary Daning River, instead off sampans. Flooding in June has raised the sea level and it is now easier for bigger vessels to navigate.

Victoria Star will sail between Chongqing and Wuhan and reverse in fall and in 2004, it will sail between Chongqing and Yichang and reverse.
