India looks to Spain for tourism boom
Madrid

Madrid
(30th Jan 2004)

INDIA Tourism plans to spend a total of US$200,000 this year to flag the Incredible India! brand campaign in Spain - the largest ever promotional effort in the country.

Ministry of Tourism, director general, Ms Rashmi Verma, said: “The growth from this market is very good and it is important to us because we want to be a destination for all-year traffic. Since people in Spain like to travel during the summer months, which coincides with what to India is a very lean period, it works out nicely.”

Spain is the fastest growing market in Europe for India. In 2003, there was a 40 per cent increase in the number of visas issued to Spanish travellers as compared to 2002.
