NEPAL, India, Bhutan and Bangladesh have banded together with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to form the South Asia Sub-Regional Economic Co-operation (SASEC).

The aim is to jointly develop tourism and promote destinations within the four member countries.

The idea, which was mooted almost a year-and-a-half ago by the four governments, is expected to bear fruit shortly as details, such as how the products would be marketed and how much promotional budget each country and the ADB should be put up, will be finalised.

Each of the countries has so far contributed US$10,000 to print product brochures and these are expected to be available from October 19.
